Kiwi questions

There aren't too many Kiwi radios where I live so i'm contemplating setting one up. I have one question though. Do I need a specific SDR or will any of them suffice. I was hoping to do this on a budget. Aerials etc are already in place.

Unfortunately, the KiwiSDR hardware has been unavailable now for over 4 years due to component shortages and manufacturing. There is a new version of the KiwiSDR hardware in development. Release to market ETA and price are currently unknown.

Many of us, myself including, have been waiting for a KiwiSDR.

While a KiwiSDR simplifies things due to its wide bandwidth, you still can do similar with OpenWebRX and other various supported SDRs if desired.

In theory one could might be able to use four inexpensive MSI SDR (essentially a SDRplay RSP1 clone) devices at ~8MHz each to cover LW, MW, and HF.... assuming the hardware and driver libraries play nice with multiple such SDRs connected simultaneously. I know multiple RTL-SDRs on the same system can have issues unless flashing a custom ID for each device. I am not sure about MSI SDRs.

I have a couple of the clones, but I have yet to try running them simultaneously on the same system. Maybe a project for later.

Look at the KiwiSDR list with signal to noise (at the linkfanel site).
I remember at least one RaspSDR (maybe more among hundreds of KiwiSDR),
and is in the top of the ranks for European places.

Not sure if any RaspSDR or FlyDogSDR are really available now. Those KiwiSDR clones need the same key components, of course.
