Adjusting bandwidth on Kiwi SDR ?
« on: March 23, 2023, 2107 UTC »

I still don't know how to adjust bandwiths on the Kiwi SDRs.
All I know are the narrow versions of AM (AMN), USB (USN) and LSB (LSN).
And nothing for the various SAM modes.

Where is the trick ?

Balanced wire antennas, wire lines and ATU

Are you on a computer or mobile device? For a computer use the mouse to grab the green bandwidth filter and drag it to expand or narrow it. You can also hover the mouse over the filter and use the scroll wheel to select multiple preset bandwidths. On a mobile device it is similar but you use your finger instead of the mouse and it doesn’t always work for me on mobile. I can record a video demonstration later if needed.

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using an SDRPlay RSP1A with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet.

I am on an hybrid tablet PC with touchscreen and keyboard with touchpad, no mouse.
Not mastering well the touchpad (OK to move the mouse cursor, not OK for the clicks),
and hard to use the touchscreen on small details (even when using the magnifying).

I have tried to handle the green line of the passband, to no avail (always ending by moving the tuned frequency aside, as any touch just above or just below the green line is a de-tune command).

Still have to try that on a standard PC (but that's downstairs, away from my shack)

I sometimes have that problem (end up retuning instead of changing the bandwidth) on my iPhone and unfortunately I am not exactly sure how to fix it.

Some years ago it worked well on the iPad. Not anymore. Kiwi needs to update the software. I don’t expect it to get fixed. I mostly use windows with it. One work around is to get the on screen keyboard up then hold shift key down then push the p key this will expand it then just p key will shorten it.

Thanks MRI !
upper  case P : enlarges the passband

You may want to become acquainted with the entire list of shortcuts. Type 'h' or '?' anywhere on the screen to see the list of keyboard shortcuts. (The passband shortcut mentioned is on that list.)

You can also enter passband choices into the frequency selection screen, which might be easier in your situation: http://www.kiwisdr.com/quickstart/#id-freq-entry

To make things easier with the touchscreen, you may want to try mobile mode: http://www.kiwisdr.com/quickstart/#id-user-mobile
You can force mobile mode when you connect to a kiwi by adding " /?m " or " /?mobile " at the end of the URL. Example: http://echofox.fr:8073/?mobile (This is from the list of all the parameters that you can specify in the URL, including passband: http://www.kiwisdr.com/quickstart/#id-user-tune )
