Folks on Twitter and other sites are reporting "Geiger counter-like" sounds on 8992 kHz in Europe for extended periods of time [link], which made me think of this thread. Reinforcing the idea this all might connect with the French Air Force is that this time the unusual signal is also being broadcast on 6712 kHz. Both 8992 kHz and 6712 kHz are Circus net freqs for FAF [link].

This all could link back to a numbers-station.com observation of unusual activity on 8992 kHz back in 2022, suggesting "TDoA suggests the location of the transmission is in Rufisque, Senegal.  It’s possible this is a French signal, since the DIRISI (information service of the French military) operates a radio station network in Rufisque."
