YHWH - 1/25 update
« on: March 04, 2014, 0008 UTC »
Hello all,
I have collected the following data.  These are reports of logs.  If someone can add to it, correct it, etc please feel free.   Also, if someone does hear this station I'd really appreciate a post on the shortwave pirate HFU page

some interesting info on tokens log here
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,17698.0.html

and here by bram stoker
http://www.thefrn.net/vines/read.php?5,1135,1135#msg-1135

Thank's for the great write-up!  I've only heard him once (although I did have the carrier on 6995 the other night, but no audio).

It's interesting that the first two loggings were on pirate frequencies, but since then he's mostly been logged on SWBC bands. I suppose he is going for the general listener, vs the pirate enthusiast?

apparently this guy broadcasts in am/usb/and lsb modes all at once (i didnt even know that was possible but thats what reports indicate) - except sometimes just in am mode.

I caught part of these broadcast, and they were in AM.  I have seen this station use USB before.

What reports have this station using AM/USB/LSB all at one time?  Often these types of reports result from users who do not bother to check the other modes.

A DSB full carrier AM signal (normal AM, A3E) can be received just fine in either LSB or USB, as well as in AM.  So if a person tunes to a signal and receives it in USB (or LSB), and never bothers to check the other modes, they often will report it as USB (or LSB), when it was actually AM.  One person tunes in USB, reports it as USB, another tunes in LSB, and reports it as LSB, and another tunes in AM, and reports it in AM.

If it was possible to transmit AM / USB / LSB from one transmitter with the same information in all modes (not technically impossible, but I can’t think of a single reason to do so, or a piece of hardware that supports such operation) it would not be possible to tell at the receive end, since it would appear to contain the same data as a normal DSB plus carrier AM signal.

I too have been trying unsuccessfully to hear this guy for a while now. (I also wondered about Rons log of the station being in am/usb & lsb...what the hell does that mean? He's a pretty knowledgeable & long time dx'er but I have no idea about that). I checked 5785 last night at about 2:50 - 3:15 utc while I walked the dog & was hearing something but couldn't get it very well. It was strong enough to lock the synch detector on my pl660 though. btw the 7125 broadcast was in LSB from what I've read/heard.

22:00z   3/11/14    I queried Ron about the AM+USB+LSB thing & he merely meant that they were in AM...nothing funky or exotic, he just phrased it a little weird.

I finally heard this one tonight! For about 10 seconds. Intuned to music on 7175 LSB and the announcement "...this is radio station YHWH signing off." Off at 2:05. I couldn't find him between 5600 - 5900 when I searched there until 2:15 utc.

The tx times look like he follows the "transmit while the wife is out of the house" school of radio piracy.

I've created a page on the HFU Wiki for YHWH as well: http://www.hfunderground.com/wiki/YHWH

And added today's transmission on 21440, which I think is the first time it has been heard on this high of a frequency, and possibly this time of the day? Perhaps this is a regular slot we just have never observed before?

Somewhat ironic... for months many of us had been trying very hard to catch a YHWH transmission. Now, I've heard several in the past few days.

It's also very interesting hearing it multiple times.  I really am not certain if this program is changed from time to time, or if we are hearing the same transcript over and over again.  Does anybody have any ideas on that?

Comparing the two different audio clips which fpeconsultant posted on the 30 Below Blog, the 2 shows appear to be different, at least in the time leading up to the song.  Draw your own conclusions, and thanks fpe!
