Montage of Europirates
« on: January 02, 2012, 1820 UTC »
On 6924.70 AM on 2 January 2012.  SIO = 453

I found the broadcast about 0313 UTC and listened until the show stopped at about 0400.  While I heard a lot of IDs, I never figured-out if one of them was for the program.

The program was many short recordings of and about Europirates--sometimes tens of seconds long, sometimes several minutes--strung together.  It was an interesting montage.  There was more about Radio Caroline than anything else.

At 0313 there was an announcer and music in not-EE,, then some SS, followed by SS and EE IDs for Mi Amigo Radio/Radio Mi Amigo.  Often lists of station names were read.  A story about Radio Caroline being swept ashore by a storm, followed by a few bars of "Wild Thing."  More station names and more Radio Caroline.  All ended about 0400.

Any ideas what I've heard?

Thanks,

Ron

Radio Mi Amigo is an internet station in Dutch operated from the Spanish Costa del Sol.  It carries the name of a famous offshore pirate.  http://www.radiomiamigo.eu/  or english translation: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http://www.radiomiamigo.eu/

I have heard Mi Amigo being relayed by a British pirate on 4 MHz.  Could be the same station or, given the time, could be a relay from this side.

It would not surprise me if Mi Amigo carried a show such as you described.  The original Mi Amigo shared a ship with Radio Caroline for a while, if memory serves me correctly.

Hopefully this is some help.

Cheers, Terry
