HF Beacons / 6698.98 KHz New Slow Dasher?
« on: November 28, 2021, 1708 UTC »
Discovered this while on the KFS Omi SDR. It has a roughly 30 second cycle: 27 seconds of silence and a 3 second dash.

7998.92 is coming in fair right now on the KFS Omni, especially when the radar is not running

6700.458   Hexie

I parked on Hexie's freq for a while and was rewarded with a weak signal slowly rising above the noise for about a minute.

Q5 copy in Colorado I have been listening to Q and H..time was 2350 utc..
The NUT sdr had both Q and H solid.
Got a land line today telling me that the old 4094 beacon was being experimented with regarding QRP
as an ID and the operator has now decided a single letter would be best. So Q it is..
The beacon can switched into a dash mode.

That about all I know .

Thanks for sharing the news about the beacon!

I used to live in San Rafael, BTW...

I saw your name and San Rafael address listed on an old copy of the "West Coast NDB DX'ers Checklist"  next to Sheldon's address.  ;D

I have not heard the 4100 kHz "H" Beacon in a a couple of months, but at 0230Z tonight, I'm hearing it nicely using the N. Utah omni SDR. It also comong through on KPH SDR.

On most SDRs at any time of the day or night I usually hear a carrier of some sort on 4100 - perhaps BCB interference. I'm guessing that H is usually in there, but covered up by the steady carrier.

stendec

Thanks for bumping this topic!!! I can also hear it on the Utah omni

I tried the home receiver and some SDRs. Only got a weak signal on the KFS omni. A few times I heard a very clear morse "Q" but my ears and the waterfall seemed to show some weaker cw code also on frequency

I was hoping to see them back on the air but it was time to move the Archer and Popup beacons onto the inactive list. I hope they will be back on the air very soon but I've not heard anything.

For the active list I added in 8191.9 as the second harmonic of Coxie (4095.9)

Let me know if there are additional updates for the lists.
