Shortwave Broadcast / TENT Radio Candip 5066.3 0345 UTC 10/4/2014

Thanks to jfarley for the suggestion, a tentative Radio Candip was heard here last night on 5066.3 kHz.  I started checking for it at 0330z sign-on (according to EiBi).  Nothing heard, not even a faint carrier.  Checked back at 0340z and still nothing.  When I returned at 0344z, I was surprised to not only see a carrier but also hear the sounds of faint music coming from the weak signal.  Heard best using the North D-Kaz.  Signal faded after 0410z, which coincides with the sun coming up there.  Pretty short window to catch this one!

Occasional audio here, blues tune heard at 1829z, weak and just above the noise floor.  1830z and into another bluesy song after short announcement.

I've been listening to this signal slowly build for the last hour now.  Nice blues music, John Lee Hooker & Bonnie Raitt "I'm in the mood" at 1922z.

1234z: someone else just came on a few hz above Sluwe causing a mess on the channel now.

2358z: Thumping S5 dance music here with frequent OM announcements between songs, but difficult to understand those announcements here.

Equipment / Re: Directional Antenna (Loop?) for NAVTEX 518 kHz

I put up a new "double kaz" delta loop for North - South reception recently.  Though intended for MW reception, the signal gain really falls off towards the lower end of the MW band, but otherwise it's highly directional with good rejection off the sides.  I just bought a preamp which should help on the lower frequencies.  I'm looking forward to see if it'll pull in some new stuff on 490/518 this winter.

Nice catch.  I caught them here the night before your log but up on 5010.6  I also had Brother Stair's slop from 5015, but oddly (?), Brother's signal suddenly vanished at 0237 UTC.  I was smart and had the SDR recording this time:

MW Loggings / 539.86 Radio Corporación, Nicaragua 0130 UTC

New log and a new medium wave country tonight, off-frequency so easy to parallel the Latin music against Radio Corporación's live webstream when listening to 539.86 in LSB.  I've seen this offset carrier before but haven't been able to confirm any audio until a few minutes ago.  Battling with on-frequency KMLB Monroe, LA. on the new south d-kaz antenna.

Guessing this is a MW harmonic, but from where?  Weak copy but language is definitely not English, seems to be mostly talk, possibly Spanish with some brief music occasionally thrown in.  I've been hearing it nightly since I first saw mention of it in #SWL last weekend.  Anyone else have a better copy on this to help ID it?
