Suspect arrested after 5 million bees stolen in Quebec; bees remain missing

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - A second man has been arrested in the theft of five million bees in Quebec.

Provincial police say the 43-year-old suspect surrendered to police on Friday in Joliette, about 50 kilometres north of Montreal.

He will appear in court on Monday.

Earlier this week the man's 36-year-old brother was also arrested and arraigned in connection with the theft.

Police suspect the accused also made off late last month with 180 hives belonging to Jean-Marc Labonte, who estimated the value of everything stolen at $200,000.

The bees have not yet been found.

We used to have artwork at work of bees. Local artist painted a huge painting of bees a while back. Last year, the art was removed. We were told because "busy bees were demeaning." Well, those of us that sat by the bees saw the bees and never thought the art was demeaning in any way shape or form, until we were told they were demeaning to us.

We will never forget the bees.

Plus, that's a lot of honey from 5M bees. Honey is really delicious.
