« on: September 28, 2022, 2126 UTC »
Hi all,

15770 off the air abruptly at 2010 UTC (28/09/22) also 9955 and 9395 inaudible in central UK.

Possible storm damage or planned shutdown due to storm?

Nice catch.  I had been checking through out the day and was surprised they were on when I last checked at about 1900 utc.  Massive power/internet/celluar outages in South Florida plus extensive flooding.  WRMI is not located where the storm came ashore but the storm is so large it is impacting entire peninsula.  It could be days before they are back on the air.  I would doubt it was a planned shut down at 2010 utc as the storm was lashing very southern Florida and the Keys (WRMI's location) several hours earlier than landfall around 1900 utc outside of Tampa Bay.

Their live stream of 9395 is up: http://wrmi.listen.creek.fm/stream

PS - Welcome to the board, Vince - hope you are a City supporter  ;D.

Sorry, no.  Non-league for me.  Northern Premier League Prem with Belper Town, almost the strongest team in that league - well we're second bottom!

League side - well it has to be Derby - a few miles down the road from here...

From their Facebook page posted 28 September 2022:
https://www.facebook.com/wrmiradio

Hurricane update as of 2203 UTC Wednesday: Winds are getting much higher here, and 15770 kHz has gone down unfortunately. We still have 7780, 9955 and 5950 kHz on the air.

- and -

Hurricane update as of 2134 UTC Wednesday: Winds are picking up here in Okeechobee, affecting some of our transmission lines. Our frequencies of 7780, 9955, 5950 and 15770 kHz are on the air with our regular schedule. The frequencies of 9455, 9395, 5800, 7570, 5850 and 7780 kHz are off the air and will probably remain off for the rest of the night and into tomorrow. We expect to air 5010 kHz on its regular schedule tonight. Our Internet stream at www.wrmi.net is on as usual. This is all subject to change depending on conditions. Our lights have been flickering on and off, so a power outage could occur at any time.

I've got a buddy originally from Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire, famous for it's bad football and large lesbian population. He roots for Manchester United. He once sent me two pictures of the same end zone from the same angle at Manchester U's home pitch roughly twenty years apart. The first was of a man and a boy giving the opposition the two finger salute. The second was of the same man with his now thirty something year old son standing in the same spot doing the same. That's dedication!

1225 utc Sept. 29 update from WRMI, does not sound good:

"Hurricane update as of 1225 UTC September 29:  The winds are still very high here in Okeechobee, and unfortunately it appears that there is a lot of damage in our antenna field.  We are beginning to assess that now.  Power went out at 0200 UTC last night and is still out.  Florida Power and Light has no idea yet when it will be restored.  The winds have to go down before they can even begin to work.  Our Internet stream is on.  We'll keep you updated."

2000 utc update from WRMI

"Power Back on at WRMI
Electrical power has just been restored at our transmitter site in Okeechobee.  This was incredibly fast after Hurricane Ian hit us yesterday.

However, we cannot return to the air immediately.  An engineering crew will be here first thing tomorrow morning to check the antenna field out.  They will note which antennas and transmission lines are OK, and which ones need repairs.  After that, we could begin putting some frequencies on the air again while repairs are made on the others.  I will have much more information about this tomorrow.  In the meantime, thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers."
