Just as halloween radio rises above the noise floor..........BOOM . Someone turns on the tv and an annoying hoorible buzz makes dx'ing on my radio a thing of past. I'm gonna take a sledge hammer to their damn tv and tell em to watch it on their ipohnes instead.

Friend of mine game me a "free" 40" monitor. Its a circa 2005 Sony plasma. It stays unplugged unless I watch it.

However, LOTS of RFI, so I suspect a neighbor has one. Maybe multiple neighbors.

I know exactly what you are saying about the devices from hell...

Myself being in a very welly packed area with dozens of these devices around me...  errr... is it any wonder I stare at the ax in the corner and the bottle in the other... so far it's been the bottle...  but ;-)

What ever happened to the rules regarding 'unintentional radiators'?  what makes it worse is I am located by a MAJOR jetport...  It's even noisy on those frequencies...

sigh

I have a Panasonic plasma in the house and it is indeed an atrocious RFI generator but I have learned to deal with it. If there's any good news, plasma screen technology generally seems to be losing popularity to LCD/LED screens. That, along with the inherent serviceability and repair issues with modern screens and rapidly evolving gotta-have-it features, probably means most of these plasma screens will be in the dump in a couple of more years. I hope mine will be.
