Radio Rebelde schedule change?
« on: January 27, 2017, 0101 UTC »
Noticed within the last week that Radio Rebelde has been absent from 5025 in the evenings when I get home from work (2300 UTC, 6PM EST) but this morning I flipped the radio on before work (around 7 AM EST, 1200 UTC) and they were on then. Anyone else notice this change too? They used to be on 24/7 I thought.

I've noticed their transmissions on 5025 kHz to be very spotty these last few days.

I live in Florida at the moment so R. Rebelde is heard S9 signals at minimum, 24 hours a day. When they're off the air, it's most certainly noticeable.
Florida, always listening via my Tecsun PL-660 receiver.

They were gone last night, but 5040 was blasting.

Last winter I heard something on RHC when they brought 5040 on line for good they might occasionally switch between the two frequencies at times.

Then again, Arnie may have been one of Fidel's buddies and not one of Raul's?

If they're gone again tonight I might wake up early to see what's rolling in from the distant East? It's got to beat the same old crap that has been running 20 khz. wide nine hundred miles to the south for the past 55 plus years. I've heard rumors other stations actually broadcast in that region, but I'll believe it when I hear it!

The important thing is that it gives DXers a chance to receive Radio Quillabamba, which is on from 2100 to 0201z.

They're on and off this morning around 1408z, I can see the carrier turning on and off on the waterfall while listening to Relay Station 5150, the audio is also starting and stopping. Maybe Pedro fixing the transmitter?

Last night I was listening to 5025 and the carrier went off, and all I heard was dead air. Maybe our amigo Pedro is fixing the transmitter or something.

Maybe Shady. With Fidel gone as well as the oil money from Venezuela they may be upgrading to Brother Stair's exacting fire and brimstone standards before Radio Rebelde makes the permanent switch to Radio Ralphie?
