'''WINB''' is a brokered Christian shortwave radio station located in Red Lion, PA, USA. It is the oldest private shortwave radio station in the US which is still operating. It was notable early in its career for criticizing American domestic and foreign policy, causing the government to freeze private shortwave radio transmission schedule expansion for several years.

Today, it broadcasts mostly religious programming, although they do mention that one can contact them to discuss buying airtime on their website.

'''KNLS''' is a Christian shortwave station in Anchor Point, Alaska operated by World Christian Broadcasting.

==History==
The idea for KNLS came to Maurice Hall, an Army Signal Corps officer, in 1945 while delivering shortwave transmitters to the Yalta Conference during WWII to help keep President Roosevelt informed of news in Washington. He soon thought of using shortwave radio to broadcast Christian programming worldwide.

In 1976, Hall, now a minister, educator, and missionary, formed the World Christian Broadcasting Corporation to help make his idea a reality. Unfortunately, the next year a founding director of WCBC, Lowell Perry, was killed in a plane crash while trying to find a transmitter site. In 1979, land was purchased in Alaska.

KNLS started broadcasting in 1983 and originally aired 10 hours of Mandarin Chinese and Russian programming, although English programming was also added. In 1989, WCBC built a new programming center in Franklin, Tennessee, which included recording studios and offices for staff. In 2005, a second transmitter was installed in Alaska.

In 2016, [[MWV]], a sister station to KNLS also owned by WCBC, started broadcasting, allowing WCBC to reach about 80% of the global population.

==KNLS today==
Today, KNLS broadcasts for 10 hours a day on two transmitters across various frequencies in Mandarin Chinese, English, and Russian. It targets the Far East, northern China, and eastern Russia, along with the Pacific Rim.

Unlike other radio stations, KNLS does not solicit donations. Instead, it is funded by individual and church contributions. It also provides Bibles and other materials to listeners free of charge.
