Kracker is a long time radio enthusiast, and has a history as a [[CB Savage]]. Kracker's 27MHz transmissions usually resulted in annoying all his neighbors in a six block radius by broadcasting off-color radio shows using a high powered [[CB]] rig. He claims to own and operate a [[Yaesu FT-101 EE]], although the finals appear to be blown out as of fall 2007. He also claims to own and operate several [[FM]] transmitters, including at least one [[splatterbox]]. Kracker possesses a [[QSL]] from [[WBCQ]] dating to when that station was conducting test transmissions prior to officially signing on in 1998.

In the summer of 2007, Kracker was chosen to be the Vice Presidential candidate in [[Commander Bunny]]'s 2008 Presidential campaign. As a result, frequent collaboration between [[WBNY]] and Kracker has been observed.

Pilots are required to test the HF transmitter during pre-departure flight checks, and this can occasionally be heard along with general in flight traffic. Frequency is also used for SELCALL transmissions. This and other HF aircraft frequencies may be going away due to most of the major air carriers switching to satellite radio technology.

Many moons ago while listening to this frequency with brother stair spewing his nonsense, someone managed to override his broadcast with "the greatest hits in porn music" complete with sound effects. This was about 3-4 years ago. does anyone else remember hearing this?

I am thinking it was around 6.800 or 6.900 Mhz. I was bringing a late 40's RCA floor radio back from the dead and i put it on his station just as a "burn in" test. I laughed so hard i nearly spewed grits. It was only on for 10 min's or so, but like i said, total realistic sound effects! As far as im concerned about Brother Scare, it's poetic justice!!!!

Pirate radio stations are unlicensed broadcasters. Most are run by hobbyists purely for fun, although some have political or other agendas. Most pirates transmit using [[SSB]], using modern ham radio equipment, although some use [[AM]], transmitting with vintage equipment. It has become more common for some pirates to transmit images using [[SSTV]].
