Timewave DSP-599zx
The Timewave DSP-599-zx is a device that uses Digital Signal Processing to operate on the audio output of a radio receiver. It consists of a small black box, about the size of a hardcover book. The audio output from the receiver is fed into the device, where it is converted from analog to digital. The digital data stream is processed in various ways; for voice signals the Timewave provides Notch Filters, very sharp high and low cutoff filters, and Noise Reduction, including a 60hz filter. It has special modes for reducing noise and interference for CW and data signals, as well. The processed digital stream is then converted back into an analog audio signal, where it is sent to an external speaker, which is not supplied.
