One of the first well known New York City pirate radio stations, WCPR began transmitting in December, 1975, and was busted on February 7, 1976. WCPR used 1620 kHz and transmitted from Brighton Beach in Brooklyn. It was run by Perry Cavalieri and John Calabro. The operators later went on to run pirate WFAT.
