One of the first well known New York City pirate radio stations, WCPR began transmitting in December, 1975, and was busted on February 7, 1976. WCPR used 1600 kHz and transmitted from Brighton Beach in Brooklyn. It was run by Hank Hayes ands Jim Nazium. The operators later went on to run pirate WFAT.
