WFAT was run by the operators of former pirate WCPR. It used a army surplus transmitter with less than 100 watts of power, and a 125 ft antenna and transmtted on 1620 kHz. It transmitted from the Marborough public housing project near Coney Island. It was on the air for about 16 months before being busted April 14, 1979. The operators returned to the air as WHOT.
