WQFG689 is a travelers information station (TIS) located in Hudson County, New Jersey. It has received a waiver from the FCC allowing it to operate on 1710 kHz AM, use 5 transmitters simultaneously, and use 100 watts during the COVID-19 pandemic (although it is unclear if they have gone back to 10 watts as of September 2022). Because of the lack of legal stations on the frequency it can be heard remarkably far, usually across all of Eastern North America at night. It is known for being a giant pain in the ass to pirate radio listeners because it makes reception of pirates on the frequency very difficult.
