Programming

WRMI relays several international news stations, including Radio Ukraine International, Radio Slovakia International, Radio Tirana (Albania), Radio France International, Famagusta Gazette Radio (Cyprus), Radio Prague (Czechia), the Italian Broadcasting Corporation, NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Taiwan International, and Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior. All of these, except the last, would be difficult to receive in the Western Hemisphere without WRMI’s relaying. Programs are aired in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Slovak.

It also features several religious programs (particularly Brother Stair’s Overcomer Ministry and Ching Hai’s Supreme Master TV) along with original and syndicated programs.

WRMI’s broadcast targets include the Caribbean and Latin America, although it also targets Europe and North America (and can be heard quite well in the latter). Since March 2022, WRMI has targeted daily native-language programming to Ukraine and Russia.

History

Radio Miami International, the predecessor of WRMI, was founded in 1989 by Jeff White (the current general manager) and Kiko Espinosa and began broadcasting via airtime on other stations. Eventually, the station applied for an FCC license, and WRMI began broadcasting on June 14, 1994, near Miami, Florida. In December 2013, they purchased the WYFR transmission complex in Okeechobee, Florida, where they broadcast from today.
