Al Gore is a former US senator and vice president. An internationally-known scientific expert on global warming, he was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on this subject. Although his work may not seem germane to shortwave listening, it is assuredly as relevant to that topic as it is to global peace.

He is also famous for inventing the internet. Also, he and his wife Tipper Gore were supposedly the basis for the novel and movie Love Story.
