The Icom IC706 MkIIG is a popular, small, HF, VHF, UHF Tranceiver designed for Amatuer Radio use. Although it has general coverage receive capabilities, it is awkward to use for listening owing to its limited built-in filters and menu driven design. It makes a great transmitter for pirate broadcasting. It is easy to interface to audio equipment and comes ready to transmit down to 6900 Khz without modification. The IC706 is the transmitter of choice for Maple Leaf Radio.
