LAD, also known as Voice of the Night, was a shortwave pirate active in the early 90s. His real name was Lance Duff, and he was apparently a teenager at the time. He became infamous for jamming other pirates, broadcasting material insulting to pirates and DXers, and making a general pest of himself on the air and at pirate radio gatherings. Eventually the FCC caught up with him, and he was busted. His parents sent him away to military school, and thus ended his pirate career. Later reports indicated that he finally ended up in prison, on charges unrelated to his pirate activities.
