WRVA is a clear channel (Class A) mediumwave (AM broadcast band) broadcast station located in Richmond, VA. The transmitter antenna is located southeast of downtown Richmond in a low-lying area near the James River, which allows for excellent ground conductivity. WRVA operates on 1140 kHz with 50,000 watts (50 kW) of transmitter power and can easily be heard in the eastern half of the United States at night.
